Requirements: Git, a Bash-compatible shell, an agent able to inspect diffs and run shell commands, and your own authorized local repository. Git is not bundled. The upstream skill targets GitHub Copilot; other clients have not been evaluated. Client installations, model access and plans are separate from this freely redistributable instruction file.

Choose explicit paths for staging. Inspect existing staged changes, repository hooks and local rules before committing. Hooks are programs owned by the repository and can run during a commit. A directory listing or staged diff is not a complete secret scanner. Do not give an agent authority to push, modify global configuration, bypass hooks or rewrite history by installing a skill.

Our optional scenario record only checks named Git CLI mechanics on synthetic local files. It does not demonstrate model-generated message quality, interactive staging, comprehensive secret detection or compliance with every safety instruction. Full agent execution remains untested.
